Mutiny is an anarchist collective that formed when the Iraq war began in 2003. Our anti-war focus has never only been about ‘over there’, but also on the effects of war, militarism and capitalism here. We have been involved in, taken action around and written about numerous struggles both local and international.

Please join us for the launch of our collected writings from 2003 - 2009 at the Black Rose Anarchist Library

The Signal

Sunday November 15 7PM
$5 or by Donation
Running time: 1hr43

The Signal is an independent psychological horror film written and directed by David Bruckner, Dan Bush, Jacob Gentry and produced by Alexander A. Motlagh—four filmmakers who have been collaborating since 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. The movie was completed for the 2007 Sundance Film Festival on a budget of only $50,000 and shot over the course of 13 days.

The Signal is a science fiction horror film told in three parts in which all telecommunication devices broadcast only a mysterious transmission ("the signal") turning people insane. The film is broken up into three "transmissions" (chapters) each of which had different directors during shooting. Each part manifests elements of one of the following genres: pure horror, black comedy, and thriller-love story.

End: 10:00 pm

Black Gay Activist Marlon Riggs' 1989 semi-documentary film Tongues Untied seeks, in its authors words to, "shatter the nations brutalising silence on matters of sexual and racial difference."

Tongues Untied celebrates Black men loving Black men as a revolutionary act. The film intercuts footage of Essex Hemphill reciting his poetry, Riggs telling the story of his growing up, scenes of men in social intercourse and dance, and various comic riffs, including a visit to the "Institute of Snap!thology," where men take lessons in how to snap their fingers proudly.

Also we would like to encourage a continuation of the discussion "Hey Hey It's Blackface": A discussion night @ Red Rattler Friday November 13, so before the screening of the movie we'll be serving Tofu Burgers free or by donation and the space will be open for that discussion to take place.
